Small Business Blog on WashingtonPost.com

In the always-be-nice-to-your-inlaws department: Be sure to check out WashingtonPost.com's new blog on small business, authored by Sharon McLoone.

Sharon's a former colleague at National Journal Group, and is stuck with me for life as a brother-in-law. More importantly, though, she knows her stuff -- and has a great eye for the quirky. My favorite post so far focuses mainly on workaday patent issues startups often face, but also offers this tidbit: "Thanks to the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, you just can't patent your whiz-bang weapon designed to be used solely with special nuclear material or atomic energy."

Great. Guess I'll keep the New America gig after all...
